The leaders of Iwevbo, an oil producing community in Orhionmwon council of Edo State, have described as falsehood the report made by some persons from Orogho community against the management of Newcross Petroleum Nigeria Limited.
Iwevbo leaders in a statement dated November 29, 2013 and signed signed by Mr. Emmanuel Edevbi, Chief Ojo Adjene, Chjief Sunday Atavwigho, Mr. Onotasamiderhi Henry and John Arhamrere, respectively, they maintained that Iwevbo still remains an autonomy community as such no other community or group of persons have the right to make any public statement about the affairs of the community or the activities of an oil firm operating in Iwevbo community.
They noted that the said publication made by Charles Eghaghe and Osagie Omoruyi both chairman and secretary of Orogho community in a national newspaper on November 17, 2013, alleging ill-treatment by Newcross Petroleum Nigeria Limited and appointment of CLO for the oil company was to misled the public.
The Iwevbo leaders further noted that they are enjoying good relationship with management of Newcross Petroleum Nigeria Limited, adding that the appointment of CLO is their exclusively rights. They called on His Royal Highness Patrick Akenzua, the Enogie of Orogho Duekdom, Governor Adams Oshiomohle and the Edo State House of Assembly to call to order the youth chairman and secretary of Orogho community so as not to disrupt the peaceful operation of Newcross Petroleum Nigeria Limited in Iwevbo community and the cordial relationship of both Orogho and Iwevbo communities.
