The people of Owan in the West and East Local Governments of Edo State have appealed to the government (at all levels) to come to their rescue by addressing the neglect of the community before things get out of hand.
The Owan Transformation Movement led by Rogers Abumen said during a chat the issue of lack of representation in government by their locality can no longer be hidden under the carpet.
The group asserted that in terms of human resources they boast of some of the best brains in the country so the issue of under development of their community cannot be said to be as a result of poor human resources.
“We are blessed with some of the best brains in the country; so we cannot put the blame of the under development of our area on the problem of inadequate human resources.
“We lack government presence in Owan because we’re not properly represented in government. Some greedy politicians seem to have sold our future for a plate of porridge,” Abumen said.
Supporting this position, Eguaoje Monday, the association’s Vice-Chairman said they have collectively agreed on ensuring that the right candidates are given the mandate to represent them in political office starting from 2015.
“Our vote this time around must be for the people that we trust in.
We’re tired of voting for pretenders who end up by selling us cheaply in the scheme of things,” he submitted.
Sandra Oisamaye, the woman leader of the association, was of the opinion that their resolve to henceforth always demand for good representation is the solution to the locality’s backwardness.
