Ministry sensitises commercial vehicles drivers, commuters on new terminals

Edo State Ministry of Transport has embarked on a sensitization of commercial vehicles drivers, commuters and the general public on the newly designated terminals for all the routes linking Oba Ovonranmwen Square, the commercial nerve centre of Benin City.

 It was tagged, “Effective Enforcement of Bus-Stops,” which commenced in April 22, 2014.

 During the exercise, handbills, indicating the new route terminals bus-stops, were distributed to the drivers, members of the Drivers’ Welfare Scheme and the Road Transport Employers Association (RTEA) as well as other stakeholders.

From the designation, all commercial buses plying Airport Road will divert to the road behind Oba’s Palace, opposite Ezoti Junction; those plying Sapele road will terminate and divert to Ogbesasa Street and come out from Ogbelaka and on to Sapele Road, buses plying Sokponba towards Oba Ovonranmwen Square are to terminate at St. Matthew Anglican Church, make U-turn and queue up to load at Asoro Primary School bus-stop.

 All buses coming from New Benin through Mission Road are to divert at Nevis Street to Forestry Road and discharge passengers at Omo Street before queuing to load at the Mission road junction of Omo Street.
