Former Petroleum Minister, Dan Etete, has threatened to drag former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Bayelsa State, Anthony George-Ikoli, SAN, before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for allegedly defrauding him of $3 million.

Etete alleged that George-Ikoli, who served under former Governor Timipre Sylva, collected the money from him to buy 40 Jin Bei buses from China for Dan Etete Foundation.

He said in Yenagoa on Wednesday that the buses were intended for use by the foundation as part of its empowerment plan for youths in Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers states.

Etete, who was represented by the foundation’s co-ordinator, Kojo Etete, said George-Ikoli supplied him sub-standard buses which is a breach of the agreement on the deal.

He said the supplied sub-standard vehicles would be dangerous to the beneficiaries of the foundation.

He said the former justice commissioner purchased buses that do not have after-sales value and that there spare parts were not available in Nigeria.

He conducted newsmen around the 40 Jin Bei buses parked in the premises of Banquet Hall of Government House, Yenagoa, saying it was the sub-standard value that had prevented the foundation from presenting the ones allocated to Bayelsa State.

Etete said the foundation had given George-Ikoli a seven-day ultimatum to provide quality vehicles or return the money otherwise he would be dragged to the anti-graft agency and even the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
