The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Erediauwa, has donated a parcel of land to the National Agency for The Prohibition of Traffic In Persons, Benin Zonal Command.
The gesture was disclosed by the Oba when officials of the agency visited him at the palace in Benin City.
The NAPTIP officials led by the Zonal Commander, Mrs. Ebinga Cordilia, had appealed to the Oba for a parcel of land to establish the zonal headquarters made up of Edo and Delta states.
Ebiringa disclosed that the federal government has decided to establish a multi-million naira Vocational Skills Acquisition Centre in Benin City to cater for victims of human trafficking.
She applauded the monarch for his remarkable contributions to NAPTIP, disclosing that the agency has so far rescued more than 7,000 victims of human trafficking nationwide with several human traffickers prosecuted.’
