Commendation has come for the executive of Warri Rebirth Initiative for successfully hosting the maiden edition of Warri cultural fiesta, tagged, WAFFI 2013.

A prominent state indigene, Chris Boyo, gave the commendation at the quarterly meeting of the body at the BB Hotel in Warri. Boyo explained that the effort of the exco deserves plaudits for their ability to galvanize the various ethnic groups in Warri to showcase their rich culture, adding that they need all support and assistance to move the body forward.

The gathering, which was the first quarterly meeting for the year 2014 was chaired  by the group’s Deputy Chairman, Mr. Richard Otone, who stressed the need for the sustenance of peace in the oil-rich city and its environs. According to him, the group will continue to champion the cause of returning Warri  to its past glory as a centre of civilization and a city of love and harmony.  He urged the people to continue to live in peace and togetherness, saying that  all tribal sentiments be eschewed so as to restore the city to its place of pride in the comity of cities. According to its quarterly report,  the body disclosed that the plan to stage football competition in schools was still on course and that it will soon come up with the modalities for the competition.

The deputy chairman further stated that the planned WRI school drama competition will soon commence, noting that the aim of the drama was to inculcate in the young ones the spirit of hard work and disabuse their minds from the get-rich-quick syndrome.

He said the drama would teach the youths that the ‘‘Warri boys and girls of yesterday were a determined and hard working lots who never missed any opportunity of getting it right.’’ Also, the Public Relations Officer, WRI, PatricK Origho, thumbed up  Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and others for gracing the fiesta and also  supporting the group toward its success. Origho said that the governor was pleased with the group for organizing the symposium and other events at the fiesta and that the body should soon organize a town hall meeting for the people of Warri to meet and proffer solutions to the challenge of peaceful co-existence.
