The Senator Representing Uyo Senatorial District said the ongoing fuel scarcity serves Nigeria right as it may give the country reason to sit up and reason towards its refineries.

Enang, who spoke in Uyo, wished the fuel scarcity to continue until the Federal Government is set on toes.

“I am very happy and satisfied with the fuel scarcity and I pray that in this country, fuel should dry so that we can start thinking right,” he said.

Enang reiterated his position that the Federal Government should in addition to developing refineries in the country, encourage, develop and settle local distillers of petroleum products with legal products to distill instead of spending so much resources to run after such people.

Enang who expressed dissatisfaction over the federal government’s attitude to developing the state promised that he has and will continue to make cases until justice is done as far as even spread of federal projects is concerned.

“I want to assure all Nigerians and in particular Akwa Ibom people that  the governor, myself and all of us in the National Assembly are not resting; we are not taking it lightly. We are taking it in brotherly spirit but we are not complacent about it.  We have raised it to the highest authority and it is being addressed”.

On refunds of state funds used on federal projects in the state, he said, “I think the country has some, I wouldn’t want to use the word resentment and I wouldn’t ordinarily want to use the word envy, I wouldn’t also want to use the word that appears that they are treating us, Akwa Ibom people, as too rich and we need nothing.

“In the Appropriation Committee, I raised issue on under-representation in the provision of Akwa Ibom, and they said look, not much can be done because you have done so much,  so much had already been done by the state and I said yes, these are federal roads which are done by the state government, which we ought to be refunded to”.
