Apparently not interested in communal crisis over landed properties, the Ogbe family of Effurun has cautioned the people of Ogbolokposu community in Uvwie council of Delta State to stop trespassing on the family land along Aladja/DSC Expressway.
Noting that the call became necessary to forestall crisis in the area, the Head of Ogbe family, High Chief Vincent Ukusare, appealed to the state government and other relevant authorities to wade into the matter before it snowballed into crisis.
He said the Ogbe family is peace-loving and would not be involved in an act capable of jeopardizing peace and co-existence in the area.
“We are doing this to avert crisis that may jeopardize the already existing peace in Uvwie if Ogbolokposu does not stop trespassing into the Ogbe family land,” he stated. Urging Ogbolokposu to limit their claims against Ugbomro community, Ukusare posited that the Supreme Court judgement between Ogbolokposu and Ugbomro does not affect Effurun because Effurun and Ogbe family in particular have not been part of the their suit.
“Therefore verdict or no verdict, Ogbe land has not been part of their suit and is not affected. So, their claims on oil wells and the 10 pounds Shell compensation do not affect Ogbe family and their land. “If you claim Ugbomro, you cannot take Ogbe family land because Ugbomro and Ogbolokposu are different communities from Effurun, where the Ogbe family land is,” he added.
Ukusare further drew the attention of the people to the judgement of Justice Pemo which says that Ogbolokposu cannot go beyond their claims and therefore should not prevent the family from developing its land.
“Those instigating Ogbolokposu against Ogbe family are warned to desist so that peace can continue to reign supreme among the people,’’ he stated.
