The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Akwa Ibom command has warned vandals in the state to steer clear of government property or risk unpleasant consequences.

The State Commandant, Mr Emmanuel Ojeniyi who gave the warning in Uyo on Wednesday during a chat with newsmen, said the command would not relent in its mandate to protect oil pipelines across the country and Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) transformers within his area of command.

Ojeniyi said that the command would work in partnership with other security agencies and electricity company to achieve its objective.

He said, “We thank God that we are doing our job. We have been given the opportunity to monitor the entire pipeline we have in the state, not in Akwa Ibom State alone but in all the state of the federation where we have pipelines.

“We have been trying to monitor all the areas prone to vandalism and by the grace of God, we are doing our job and we have seen some places where when the people vandalise the pipe they use to carry material to. “Just last weeks, we confiscated drums of adulterated product to our exhibit site and I want to say that we have been trying to monitor that area. We have been keeping surveillance in that area only to make arrest. “I just want to appeal to Nigerians that when you are doing what is not good, do not feel or think that the nemesis will not catch up with you one day.

“I want to advise that we do what is right and do what is correct. Vandalism is a crime and do not involve yourselves in It,” Ojeniyi warned.

He disclosed that the command was prosecuting some vandals in court to serve as deterrent to others who may wish to join the illegal business.

He appealed for support and cooperation from other sister agencies to ensure adequate security of lives and properties in the state.
