GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Okowa has said Delta State would remain a favourable destination for investors.
The Governor gave the assurance Thursday during the commissioning of the Lee Oasis Supermarket, Warri and ground breaking ceremony of Trebet A1 Factory Extension at Uvwie both in Delta State.
According to him, “we are a very friendly and peaceful people, we have a lot of human and natural resources, obviously, Delta State is the place to be when you talk about investment.”
While commending Chief Leemon Ikpea, Executive Chairman of Lee Group of Companies for expanding his business frontiers in the state, Governor Okowa, urged traditional rulers, youths and women to get involved in creating an enabling environment for investments to thrive in Delta State, assuring that the $16 billion EPZ project is on course in the state.
He also used the occasion to inform Deltans who collected forms for the state government’s empowerment programmes of extension of the submissions of the forms to Sunday, July 12, 2015, adding that completed forms could be submitted through the traditional rulers, members of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chairmen of local government councils or online.
Okowa said that the first 6, 000 direct beneficiaries of the empowerment programmes would commence their business in the next six months and urged Deltans to remain patient with his administration, noting that he would not renege in his campaign promises.
“We must realise that the more we create the enabling environment for investors to come, the more job opportunities that will be available for our youths, our women and opportunities for our people,” he said.
The Governor disclosed that his administration had mobilised workers to the Sapele market while those who would construct the market at Orerokpe would be at the project site in the next couple of weeks.
