Few days into the lifting of the ban placed by the former Governor of Delta State Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan on the youths of Oghara, Ethiope West Local government area, the entire community was again thrown into confusion when the home of the Ovade-Oghara youth Chairman, Mr. Ejiro Efetobo was allegedly touched by suspected arsonists who allegedly attempted to kill him and his entire family with fire ignited around the house with many jerry-cans containing fuel.
The youth chairman Mr. Ejiro Efetobo was said to have sustained a major degree of injury on his left hand when he forced open the bullet proof iron door to free himself and family from the tick smoke inside the house around 2:00am on Tuesday, 2nd June 2015 when the arsonists visited.
Efetobo said it was his wife who noticed some noise within the compound and drew his attention to it as he immediately responded by rushing to the door to set his family free.
He said that he had intended to confront the invaders to set his wife and children free, adding that as he came outside the compound all the youths some of who he could identify as the youths of his village fled to safety through the same direction where they climbed into the compound which has a high perimeter fence.
Efetobo whose tenure as chairman has yet to expire said he does not know why those behind the heinous crime are after his life. He said that since he became the chairman, he has transformed the entire village by attracting government and the only oil company operating in the area (Pan Ocean) into the community as they have brought development to his people through his activities. He thanked God for sparing his life promising that he will continue to attract meaningful development to his people who made him their leader and will never be distracted by their evil plans.
