Newly Appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Ugbomro, Delta State, Prof. Akaehomen Akii Ibhadode, has said that his administration will not short-change the Urhobo nation as host community to the Institution.
Prof. Ibhadode stated this on Thursday during his first interactive session with newsmen since his appointment. He said that the institution would take its pride of place as a specialised university among best global institutions of the world.
He also disclosed that his dream for the school is to see that the FUPRE is ranked as one of the top 500 universities in the world. He said he has outlined plans and policies to achieve this by providing an international standard learning environment by focusing on teaching and research. Prof. Ibhadode said teaching, research and citations are the key factors in the ranking process having a total of 90 per cent of the overall rating score, adding that “FUPRE as a specialised petroleum university and first of its kind in Africa and eight in the world, deserves to be in the top 500 world universities.”
