The people of Owhelogbo, Osoko North Local Government Area of Delta State have described the immediate past Secretary to Delta State Government (SSG), Chief Ovouzorie Macaulay, as a testimony that the youths have a lot to offer the society.
HRMs, Innana Okpuzo 1, Odiologbo of Owhelobo and Barr Uvietobore Ogbo Ibuka 1, Ovie of Ozoro, said Macaulay had served the state very well and creditably and by his action put to rest the notion by some elders in the area that youths should not grow.
They expressed the view during the heroic welcome and chieftaincy title conferred on Macaulay by Isoko nation.
According to them, Macaulay “is a detribalised Deltan with humility. He used his position to touch everywhere in Delta especially Isoko. He increased the number of recognized traditional rulers from Isoko from four to 11. He made Umeh road come to reality especially his readiness to wade into any crisis,” they said.
Reacting, the former SSG said the heroic welcome and chieftaincy title given to him by Isoko nation has put to rest the notion by some elders in the area that youths should not grow.
He spoke Monday evening in Owhelogbo, Osoko North Local Government Area of the state, when over 10 Traditional Rulers from the entire Isoko land welcomed him home with the traditional chieftaincy title of Okiroro 1 of Isoko land, stating that despite attempts by his detractors to run him down they have not said he failed.
According to him, he had some weeks ago make public his achievements which some people are faulting, assuring that he would continue to serve his people even at the community level and other capacities, insisting he could not be forced to retire politically considering his young sage, his experience in politics, administration, governance, politics and others.
He dared his opponents to check the authenticity of his achievements if they cared, saying that his records of achievements with government are not lost just as he warned his detractors to stop destroying others in order not to destroy their own homes.
He said: “Macauley has done his best, l shall do more. Let my detractors do their own. If they push far we may all dance naked. Those who stay in glass house should not throw stones. It is my policy not to fight in my homes. I fight corporate not individuals,” he warned.
On the title given to him, he said the title is unsolicited, came in a unique way that he could not resist from over 10 Traditional Rulers so that it would not look deviant and that he humbly accepted the title and awards which he has avoided for the past 15 years.
Earlier, HRMs, Innana Okpuzo 1, Odiologbo of Owhelobo and Barr Uvietobore Ogbo Ibuka 1, Ovie of Ozoro, said he has served the state very well and creditably which informed the reception accorded him, saying they did not send him to Asaba under elective platforms but God used him to get positions to develop the communities.
