Member representing Ughelli North Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Samuel Mariere, has received the blessing of three traditional rulers in his constituency to re-contest his seat in the April 11 election.

During a visit to the monarchs, which was part of the lawmaker’s campaign tour, he was also conferred with the chieftaincy title of the ‘Oni-Ode’ (The Big Elephant of Evwreni Kingdom) by the Ovie of Evwreni Kingdom, Eruvwedede the 3rd.

Elders of the kingdom, men, women as well as youths came out in their numbers to give a rousing reception to Mariere.

They said he has distinguished himself in the state House of Assembly in the past four years.

Conferring the title of the Eni-ode of Evwreni Kingdom on Mariere, the Evwreni monarch said the kingdom was pleased with the performance of the lawmaker.

The monarch also prayed for the electoral success of Mariere and urged him to do more in the next dispensation.

At the palace of the Ovie of Ogor Kingdom, the people also trooped out to welcome Mariere amid   cheers and jubilation.

The eldest chief prayed on behalf of the people for Mariere to propel him to victory come Saturday.

The Ovie of Ogor Kingdom also presented a copy of the Holy Bible, urging him to consider it his staff of office.

In his response, Mariere thanked the traditional rulers for their prayers and promised to continue to represent the people of Ughelli North constituency effectively in the House of Assembly.

He said the constituency has witnessed many development projects and programmes during his tenure as he urged them to vote massively for his return to the Assembly to continue and sustain what he started.

He restated his resolve to continue to represent the people with the fear of God.
