Chairman of the Ethiope West Local government of Delta State, Solomon Golley, has condemned the consistent failure and malfunctioning of the INEC card reader which allegedly resulted in the disenfranchisement of some credible voters, especially those in his Ward 8 units during Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Golley who cast his vote in Oghara during the elections, urged INEC to go back to the drawing to ensure that the same failure does not repeat itself in the April 11 governorship election.
“The major problem is the card reader as it failed in almost 40 per cent of the polling units.
“Their officials also started very late, making the large turnout of voters to be frustrated over the process, as there is no much time for them to be accredited.”
Speaking to newsmen, Golley also passed a vote of confidence all the PDP candidates, noting that Ethiope West was a one sided local council area mainly for PDP even with the presence of the opposition.
But while the council chairman and some voters criticised the process of voting, others who spoke to newsmen, like Chief Francis Omokaro, described the process as a transparent one that will be difficult to be manipulated by any one.
