The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers, Mr Nyesom Wike, has promised to provide water, electricity and roads to the people of Gokana area council if elected.
Wike made the promise at the party’s governorship rally at Kpor, headquarters of Gokana local government.

He said if elected, the administration would not waste time to meet the needs of the people of the area since they were basic amenities.
“Today, let me tell the people of Gokana, give us your mandate, we shall not disappoint you.
“I promise you that as you vote for the president and I, we will not wait until the day we are sworn-in. I will call the leadership of Gokana people, let us prepare to give them water, electricity and roads,’’ he said.
Wike, a former minister of state for education, said his administration would not abandon the people.
“I make this vow today and we make this covenant that we shall not abandon you. We shall not deny you what we have promised you.
“My administration will be an inclusive one and amenities will go round the state,’’ he said.
The candidate urged the people to vote for the party to enjoy democracy dividends.
In her speech, Dr Ipalibo Banigo, the deputy governorship candidate of the party, assured the people that the general hospital in the area would be renovated.
Banigo also said that the welfare of civil servants in the state would be catered for if elected in the February election.
