A former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, and Chief William Makinde, a former national treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have donated items worth over N500,000 to Merciful Orphanage Home, Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State.
Makinde, in his speech on behalf of Ibori, said, “We decided to contribute to the welfare of the inmates of this orphanage home because they need our care and love during this period and always in order for them to be able to grow up and be responsible citizens of society”.
Makinde, who advised the inmates to make good use of the items, assured them of more if they believe in God Almighty. He urged members of the public to contribute to the welfare of orphanage homes, which according to him is the hallmark of charity.
Responding on behalf of the orphanage home, Madam Rose Etsemita, thanked the donors for their kind gesture and pray God to bless them abundantly.
Items donated were 50 pieces of clothing materials, 200 notebooks, 10 live chickens, 10 bags of rice, 20 litres of palm oil, 20 litres of vegetable oil.
The duo also promised pay for completion of the floor of the school classroom building that was under construction.
