It was a big relief for parents of 34 secondary school students in_ Etsako East local government area of Edo State when the Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Youth and Student Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe, has paid their West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) enrollment fees.
Twenty seven of the benefiting students are in the senior secondary school while seven are in the junior secondary. Addressing the students, Imagwe said investing in education ofvchildren was the only guarantee to a sustainable future.
Imagwe, who is a former president of National Association of Nigeria Student (NANS), pointed out that the gesture was to complement President Jonathan’s commitment to make education affordable to the poor. He also promised that the best 10 students that would emerge in the examination will be offered automatic scholarships to study in any of the federal universities of their choice. He appealed to the people to support the re-election bid of President Jonathan in 2015 general elections to enable him complete all the ongoing projects across the country as well as executing new ones.
Some of the beneficiaries, while commending the Imagwe for coming to their _aid, said they will continue to pray to God to protect Imagwe for him to continue to add value to the life of the youths and promised not to let him down.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries and distribution of textile materials to the PDP leaders in the area.
