The Miekoromo Family of Ayakoromo community in the Burutu Local Government area of Delta State has petitioned the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police, Warri, over alleged ostracism of its members by the community through the influence of 10 indigenes (names withheld) of the community

The petition was forwarded by their lawyers to the Area Commander and made available to the press. In the petition, Jones Miekoromo, Cyril Aremenbibolokaimi and Eseri Tuasinghan on behalf of the Miekoromo Family alleged that the entire members of their family were ostracised and excommunicated by the community through the influence of the said indigenes of the community for getting an order from a Federal High Court in Warri restraining the said indigenes and a company operating in the area for paying compensation/entitlement to the said indigenes pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction on the case.

The petitioners again alleged that rather than obey the court order, members of Miekoromo Family were excommunicated and ostracised by the community and that the action of the community has caused untold hardship to members of Miekoromo Family.

This is because any member of the community that contravenes the ostracism and excommunication order against the Miekoromos will be liable to N70,000 payment as fine, the petition added.
