Chief Ighoyota Amori, Chief Political Adviser to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Monday Igbuya, Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, have apologised to the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) following the recent ban placed on them by the UPU for betraying the Urhobo interest ahead of the 2015 election.

The ban forbids them from contesting elective positions, getting any appointment or performing in any Urhobo functions. But the duo have apologised to the Urhobo people through the apex body, UPU, for forgiveness.

The close door meeting where they tendered the apology was held at the residence of the UPU President General, Chief Joe Omene.

Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuama, led the delegation to assist them in pleading for mercy and softening the minds of UPU.

A source who briefed journalists immediately after meeting said: “They came to actually apologise to Urhobo nation through UPU for the wrongs they have done against Urhobo and negative comments made in recent past on pages of newspapers, thereby trying to reduce the strength of UPU in pursuing the governorship ticket to a logical conclusion.

“After much begging, they were asked to return the next day for further instruction thereafter,” the source said.
