Avianwu monarch seeks support for Fugar rainstorm victims

The Oghieavianwu of Avianwu Clan in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Alhaji Jackson Dauda Etokhana, has called on the state government to provide more  support to the victims of recent rain storm disaster in Fugar community in the local government area who are presently traumatized, having been rendered homeless.

The Oghieavianwu made the appeal when he received the Majority Leader, Edo state House of Assembly, Philip Shaibu, who paid him a visit in his palace.

The royal father, while urging the majority leader to liaise with appropriate authorities to enable the victims get succour, described the disaster occasioned by the rainstorm as one of the worst in the area in the past decades.

He, however, thanked the Majority Leader for his personal assistance to the victims so far with the donation of food and other items.

Etokhana used the medium to appreciate him for using his position to demonstrate exemplary character that politics was not just for self-contentment, but a means for societal development, which, according to him, had been reflected in Shaibu’s effort to emulate the strides of the governor.

The majority leader, told the traditional ruler that the visit was to formally identify with him on his recent ascension to the throne as he was unavoidably absent at the occasion.

He prayed God that the reign of the royal father would witness a new era of progress and favour for the people of the clan.

Shaibu remarked that the ancestral affinity of the Etsako people would continue to bind the people together as kith and kin, irrespective of geographical boundaries and therefore called on them to see themselves as one. The Ogieavianwu also received the Eze Ndigbo of Afemai land, Igwe Joseph Okeke, and his entourage who paid a solidarity visit to the palace.

Etokhana assured that the Ndigbo living in his domain would continue to enjoy peace, harmony and good will as the indigenes and sued for sustained cordial relationship. He nonetheless appreciated the visitors for deeming it necessary to pay him the visit in spite of ethnic differences and lauded the Eze Ndigbo for his service to his people.

The Eze Ndigbo of Afemai told his host that the visit was meant to further strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the palace and his people and pledged for its sustenance.
