Edo State chapter of the Medical Association of Officers of Health has commended the Chairman, Esan South East Local Government Area, Joseph Ikpea, over his administration’s disposition towards healthcare programme.
Chairman of the association, Dr. Raymond Ogieva, Director, Public Health Care, Igueben, Local Government Area gave the commendation when he led other officers in the 18 local government areas on a routine visit to Ubiaja, the administrative headquarters of Esan South East Local Government Area.
He particularly lauded the council boss for implementing the new salary structure for health personnel and the proposed payment of outstanding rural allowances, saying it was an indication of the administration’s commitment to primary health care services.
Ogieva saluted the courage of the council chairman for spearheading the campaign and sensitization on the dreaded Ebola virus in the locality.
The council chairman on his part, appreciated the medical officers for the visit and expressed his readiness to collaborate with the association in ensuring accessible health care delivery for the people.
In a related development, the wife of the council chairman, Mrs. Evelyn Ikpea, has charged women in the locality on the need to embark on periodic examination of breast, as early detention and awareness could help to curtail cancer of the breast.
Ikpea who officially inaugurated the breast cancer awareness campaign for women at the council secretariat said the programme was in line with the sate government, Adams Oshiomhole’s directive and health care policy programme to create awareness and sensitization among women who are the most vulnerable.
