The Head of Service, Edo State government, Mr. Igbaekemen Jerry Obazele, has showered encomia on the Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Edo State chapter for the various laurels they have won for the state.
Obazele, while receiving the association members, who paid him a courtesy visit, said the state government was very proud of the antecedents of the association and therefore would take the body seriously.
The head of service noted that any country that desires to develop must lay emphasis on the study of mathematics, pointing out that all science subjects take their roots from mathematics.
Obazele pointed out that mathematicians all over the globe are serious minded people, saying because of this they have postulated theories that have solved difficult problems thereby bringing succour to humanity.
The head of service commended the association for producing textbookson mathematics to help students in the study of the subject, and also their readiness to partner with the state government.
He advised the association to present the various award they have won to the state governor. He assured the association that the state government in fulfillment of its promise to train all categories of staff will look into the possibilities of sponsoring the members on training locally and internationally.
He also stated that government will in addition consider members of the body as resource persons in the training of civil servants.
Also, the Chairperson of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), Edo State Chapter, Mrs. Birgitta Okodugha, congratulated, Mr. Igbaekemen Jerry Obazele for his appointment as the Head of Service and thanked the governor for the appointment.
