An international port terminal and property development giant, PRODECO Limited, operating in Onne oil and gas free zone, Rivers State, has acquired land to build an international standard airstrip in Rivers State.
The project to be sited in Eteo community of Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State is in collaboration with a Nigeria based company (galland Nigeria limited). The land was acquired from Eteo and Sime communities. Already, the management of PRODECO and Eteo community leaders, chiefs and youth body have perfected signing of memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Eteo.
Speaking at the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the communities of Eteo, his royal highness, Emere T.E.K Akobe, thanked the management of PRODECO for their choice of the communities for the airstrip.
He said the project would promote growth and development of the communities and foster relationship between the communities and the company.
As witnessed by our reporter, all the stakeholders in the community unanimously agreed to sell the land and keep to the terms of the MoU.
He Akobe urged PRODECO to go on with the project assuring that the community would provide a conducive environment for a hitch-free operation.
The traditional ruler used the occasion to commend Hon. Marcus Nle Ejii, Hon. Chidi Chu, Barr. Ben Chu and other sons of Eteo who he said worked tirelessly for the deal to sail through.
He assured that all parties involved in the sale of the land, including landlords in the area would get their due financial benefits.
He, however, urged the youths to maintain peace, law and order to enable the company realize their objective.
Former commissioner for culture and tourism, Hon. Marcus Nle Ejii who also hails from Eteo in his speech thanked PRODECO for extending their investment tentacles to Eteo, stressing that the development would bring employment opportunity for the people.
Nle Ejii advised the youths to acquired education, and the requisite skills that would qualify them to work when the project kicks off.
