•Appeals for security beef up

By Francis Onoiribholo  /  Bureau Chief Benin

The Chairman, Ovia North East Local Government Area, Mrs. Lucy

Omagbon, has appealed to Edo State Government and all relevant security agencies in the state to urgently beef up security in the local government area, especially along the Benin-Lagos Express way.

The council boss made the appeal when two Edo indigenes in the Nigeria Army who have just passed out of the Military College paid her a courtesy visit, saying that the high rate of kidnapping and armed robbery on the highway in Ovia North East area was becoming very worrisome.

She said that about six cases of kidnapping were reported to have taken place along that same road on Monday alone which she said was too much for the people of that area, adding that going through that road to the office on a regular basis has now become a nightmare for council workers and other innocent people.

She, however, called on government and security agencies to find a lasting solution to the issue of insecurity in the country especially the high level of kidnapping in Edo State.

Receiving the two young military officers, Lieutenants Omorodion E. Esosa (Engineering Corp) and Idemudia Osagie (Medical), the council boss expressed delight that the two young officers were successful in the military training and advised them to remain good ambassadors of the council in the military.

She assured them of her administration’s support at any time of need, adding that their name would be written in the history book of the council.

The two officers said they came home after rigorous military training exercises to identify with the government of their home land and tell their success stories.
