Cross River Consensus for GEJ,  a group, campaigning for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan for a second-term, has given kudos to governors and PDP members in the House of Representatives for endorsing the president ahead of the 2015 general election.

The group said it has commenced mobilising the grassroots to ensure one hundred per cent support for the second-term bid of Jonathan.

The group said the endorsement of President Jonathan by PDP governors and caucus lawmakers in the House of Representatives, was an indication that the stage was set to ensure the party’s victory in the forthcoming presidential election.

Coordinator of the group, Mr. Paul Adah, spoke with journalists in Calabar.

He said Jonathan would be unopposed and given bloc votes in Cross River State during the party primaries and general election.

Adah also said despite security challenges in the North-East, there was nothing wrong in drumming support for the 2015 re-election of President Jonathan, adding that the country must move forward.

“We are compelled to start mobilising for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan because he has shown that he has the vision to lead this country in the right direction. He is entitled to rule for a two-term tenure of eight years and we will give him that 100 per cent support in Cross River.

“There is nothing wrong in endorsing President Jonathan at this moment, not even the security challenges as the problem is being handled effectively by the military. He has transformed the country to the level that it is and therefore deserves to complete his second term,” Adah said.

Adah said the group was working with the state leader of the party, Governor Liyel Imoke, to ensure that Jonathan was returned unopposed beyond Cross River.

Chairman of the group, Senator Bassey-Ewa Henshaw, disclosed that over 10 branded Toyota buses had been purchased in the state to reach out to the grassroots for Jonathan.

He commended the PDP governors and lawmakers for their decision to endorse President Jonathan for a second-term.

A former majority leader in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr. Alex Ebu, said the Jonathan administration needed to complete the development blueprint it is currently implementing hence the need for second-term bid.
