Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, Alhaji Saliu Tairu (a.k.a Ogbegbe), has advised Chief P.D.O. Akpeki, the Commissioner for Housing in the state and an indigene of the community to complete Sapele market or face the wrath of his people.

Alhaji Tairu, while addressing journalists in Sapele during the demolition exercise of illegal structures, said in an emotion filled voice that Chief Akpeki who hails from Sapele was at the meeting in Asaba where it was agreed that all illegal structures and makeshift stores erected by Sapele market women be destroyed yet he did nothing to discourage government from such a decision knowing fully well that Sapele has no market for traders.

He said even if government may be right by its decision to beautify Sapele, yet it was too hasty in that idea having known that Sapele has no market and other industries where the youths could earn their living, pointing out that government in their wisdom would have completed Sapele market before embarking on the demolition exercise which has already sent many residents to their untimely graves.

He averred that Sapele though a cosmopolitan city needed beautification and good sanitary condition, he regreted that government approach to the entire process is faulty as a palliative measure was never adopted before the hasty exercise by the government bulldozers just as he called on the government to retrace steps especially Governor Uduaghan whom he described as a listening leader to revisit Sapele by completing the market urgently so that the women could have a place to sell their commodities and be redeemed from their present state of idleness and sufferings.
