Edo State Head of Service, Mr. Jerry Obazele, and the state Commissioner for Special Duties, Didi Adodo, were Tuesday honoured with the Episcopal Award of Esan Diocese, Anglican Communion.
Also honoured were a retired staff of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Dr. Cecilia Obianwu, and a retired Venerable of Esan Diocese, Samson Uduokhai.
They were honoured at the ongoing 3rd Session of the 4th Synod of Esan Diocese, with theme: Divine Direction, being hosted by St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Eguare-Ebelle, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
The awardees, according to the Archbishop of the Bendel Province and the Diocesan Bishop of Esan, Rev Friday Imaekhai, were honoured because of their contribution to the development of the church, as well as their efforts at societal advancement.
It would be recalled that the Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, chairman of Tomline Industrial Company Limited, Elder Tes Sorae, and two others were last Sunday honoured with same award.
Responding, the Edo State Head of Service, Mr. Obazele, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Develoment, Augustine Akhuemhenkhun, expressed gratitude to the church for considering him worthy of the award.
Similary, Adodo, who was represented by his younger brother, Mr. Awanose Adodo, thanked the church for the honour.
In a lecture titled, Divine Direction: The Way to Eternal blessing, Venerable Williams Aladekugbe, stressed the need for Christians to seek God’s direction, saying relying on one’s understanding was likely to lead to frustration, stagnation and untimely death.
He called on Christians to always submit themselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit, pointing out that it constitutes the first leading of God, and depict maturity in Christian faith.
The cleric equally admonished the congregation to uphold the Christian virtues of love for God’s word and people, humility, perseverance, patience, as well as refraining from having confidence in the flesh or habouring bitterness.
