The Delta State Government is rounding up arrangement to employ close to 1000 people into its civil service before the end of July 2014.

Sir Paul Evuarherhe, state’s Head of Service (HoS), stated this on Tuesday in Asaba when the executive members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, paid him a courtesy call, saying some names have been shortlisted and would be invited for interview very shortly.

He maintained that the state government is been careful to curb some irregularities observed during the previous recruitments, assuring that those to be employed would merit it considering that the state is made up of many ethnic settings that would be well taken care of.

He said the office of HoS is the engine room for the human capital development agenda of the state government, as he said the office trains workers for improved manpower delivery, revealing that the importance of the training is achievable through the quarterly monetary vote from the state government.

Evuarherhe advised that unionists should indulge in negotiation and suggestions to end crisis instead of embarking on strike, which, he said, should be the last resort.

On the Weigh-in Allowance, he assured that the Directorate of Establishments and Pensions is already working on it in order to do thorough job and would soon conclude it, assuring that no ministry or parastatal would be excluded once they are able to meet up with the conditions.

Earlier, Comrade Nobert Chiazor, NUJ Chairman, Delta State, implored the HoS to make Delta State civil servants to be more productive in order to excel in every aspects of life for the human capital development agenda of the state government.

He appealed to the HoS to take the issue of Weigh-in Allowance and employment very serious so that the anxiety and agitations of the Deltans could be met immediately, assuring that Delta journalists would partner with the office for better productivity.
