The Deputy Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation in Ghana, Dr Bennis Heloo, has commended a Warri based non-governmental organization, Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) for its enlightenment and advocacy campaign along the West African coast on the need for a safe and sustainable environment.
The Ghanaian environment minister gave the commendation when she hosted officials of the environment NGO, who visited her in Accra, Ghana.
Dr. Bennis Heloo commended the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice for its plan to extend its series of seminars and workshops to the people of Ghana.
The minister said the CEPEJ oil and gas seminar scheduled for October this year in Accra, would benefit the people and government of Ghana immensely, especially as crude oil has been discovered in that country. For his part, the National Coordinator of the NGO, Sheriff Mulade, said the decision to hold this year’s oil-related environment seminar in Ghana was necessitated by the need to share Nigeria’s bitter experiences in oil exploration and exploitation activities, with Ghanaians who are about going into the oil industry.
