Against the backdrop of youth unemployment and criminality among youths, a socio-cultural group, United World Youth Organization, has concluded plans to establish a multi-purpose farm project in Edo State.
Chief co-ordinator of the group, Mr. Abraham Omoragbon, disclosed this in Benin, recently.
He said that the integrated farm project, which will run alongside allied factories, would provide jobs for over 30,000 youths when fully established.
He disclosed that the United World Youth Organization was founded in Paris, France in 2013 as a direct response to the challenges of Nigerian youths both at home and in the Diaspora.
Omoragbon, who is a professional musician based in Paris, said that so far, over 10,800 youths have registered as members of the organization, adding that talks were on with both foreign and local investors to inject funds into the proposed integrated farm project.
According to him, the Benin monarch, Oba Erediauwa, has graciously agreed to provide the group with a parcel of land for the take-off of the farm project which he noted, would include the cultivation of both cash crops and food crops.
Omoragbon stated that Nigerian youths in the Diaspora are desirous of coming back home but they are however scared because of the unemployment and security challenges in the country.
He said the vision of United World Youth Organization is to provide gainful employment for the teeming Nigerian youths, and thus reduce their tendency to be involved in criminal activities.
He therefore appealed to affluent Nigerians, particularly Edo State indigenes to support the initiative of the United World Youth Organization which is to provide economic empowerment for the youths in Nigeria.
