To end the Boko Haram insurgency in parts of the North, the Federal Government and security agencies should trace the sources of funds of the insurgents and close such channels.
Chief Clement Ofuani, former presidential aide, insisted in Asaba that security operatives needed to improve on their intelligent networking to locate the sources of funds for the insurgents. Ofuani, who is a governorship aspirant in the state, expressed concern over the deadly activities of the insurgents, saying that the Federal Government must end the daily killings of innocent Nigerians. “Track their supply lines and cut them off from the resource base because this is an organised terror attack. They are carrying out these attacks because they have access to funds. What the Federal Government needs to do therefore is to starve them of funds and close all their channels of resources so that they will be handicap,” he stated.
On the recent political statements credited to some top politicians in the state, the former Commissioner for Economic Planning in Delta State described it as “very unsavory for inter-ethnic harmony which we have been trying to build over the years. He however stated that such statements were political maneuverings and positioning towards 2015, adding that reason will prevail at the end for the state to make progress.
“It is all about 2015 and in our case for instance, the governor is running his second and final term as required by the Constitution and off course, we are concerned about who is going to take over from him. As such, there are all sorts of political positioning to gain certain advantage,” he explained.
