The Chairman, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, has praised President Goodluck Jonathan for enforcing the 35 per cent affirmative policy, which states that women in Nigeria must have 35 per cent representation in all sectors of the economy.

In a statement issued in Asaba by the Deputy Director General, You and I Foundation, Raymos Guannah, Olejeme, described President Jonathan as an embodiment of progress, peace and prosperity in Nigeria especially for taking the greatest step in Nigerian history towards gender equality, women rights, liberation and empowerment.  She charged Nigerian women to offer themselves for elective positions in 2015, urging them to support the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, in her advocacy for women’s advancement and gender balance in Nigeria. She added that women have contributed in no small way to the political development of the nation and that given more opportunities, the women could do more like their male counterpart politically. She urged the women to use the international women’s day celebration to advocate their betterment and the nation at large, advising them to be humble and loyal in their individual homes.
