Nine of the 11 councillors of Owan West legislative council, Edo State have petitioned against the council chairman, Mr. Gordie Aigbodion, over misappropriation of fund.
In the petition signed by the nine councillors, Aigbodion was accused of arrogance and embarking on spending spree without legislative approval immediately after assumption of office in April 2013.
In the petition to the state House of Assembly, the council’s lawmakers also accused the chairman of harassment by using thugs and party leaders and also frustrating them from carrying out their oversight function.
The chairman was also accused of refusal to give income of the council as well as illegal deduction from the councilors’ emolument without their consent.
According to the petition, “We approved N15 million for the construction and building of the legislative arm and he built it for N28 million without sending supplementary appropriation bill for the project.
