500 enjoy Edo govt’s youth empowerment scheme

The Coordinator, Edo State Employment and Expenditure for Result (SEEFOR) project, Mr. Taiwo Akerele,  has declared in Benin that over 500 youths have benefited from the agency’s Youth Employment Project.

Akerele disclosed this at a weeklong training/ orientation seminar organised for youths from the three Senatorial Districts of the state and employed under the SEEFOR Public Works programme.

He said SEEFOR is an interventionist project to help collaborate and ease stress burden on women and youths through youth empowerment scheme in the state.

Akerele, who is the Senior Special Assistant on World Bank project to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, noted that the engagement of the over 530 youths was to enable the beneficiaries become fully employed under the project.

According to him, even with the project ongoing, SEEFOR has also helped able-bodied men /women in the society to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

He noted that the recruitment has a pre-requisite for democratic balance as a way of ensuring transparency in the entire process.

The General Manager, Edo State Waste Management Board, Gillian Uche Ochugbue, said the essence of SEEFOR project was to help reduce unemployment of youths which is the focus of the present administration in the state.

Meanwhile, State Media Officer of SEEFOR, Flora Bossey, has assured youths in the state that were not captured in the ongoing exercise to be patient as the recruitment is a continuous one.
