Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Akan Okon, has warned indigenes of the state against the activities of fraudulent politicians and political jobbers.

Okon gave the warning while addressing indigenes of Itu Local Government Area at Mbiatok Itam in Itu Local Government Area of the state.

The commissioner decried the selfish attitude of political jobbers who are ready to sacrifice the collective interests of their people for crumbs from the enemies of the people.

He called for a change of heart and admonished the people to abide by the principles of truth, fair play and justice while working for the growth and development of their community and the state.

Condemning actions and inactions that are inimical to the wellbeing of Itu and the state, Okon recalled that in the days of their founding fathers the people of Itu were upright.

“When Itu speaks with one voice, with one mind and with one goal in view, as obtained in the days of our founding fathers like late Chief Effiong Udo Okon, it would become an indivisible and invincible colossus in all its endeavours.”

The commissioner charged the people to adopt a new way of life that would restore the lost glory of Itu by  living in harmony and love one another because there would be no progress or development when brothers and sisters do not live as one in peace and unity.

He thanked the people for the solidarity and unwavering support to him and Governor Godwills Akpabio, and pointed out that the show of solidarity would serve as a catalyst that would motivate the governor to do more for the people.

In his remarks, the Chairman Itu Local Government Area, Mr. Micheal James Etim, declared the continued support and loyalty to the Akpabio administration.
