Obomkpa community in Aniocha North council of Delta State has expressed shock over the explosion which rocked the venue of an event attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei .
President General of the community, Prince Emeka Dibiat, stated in Warri that the community delayed in coming out with its statement to enable the police do their investigation and come out with its findings.
Dibiat said the incident came as a shock to the people of the community and enjoined vested interests not to jump into conclusion over the incident until the Police conclude their investigations.
He said the Obomkpa community was also quietly investigating the incident to unravel any deliberate wrong doing by anyone in the explosion, disclosing that one person from Ugboba quarters in the community has been arrested and he is helping the police in their investigations. He appealed to the Police to conclude its investigations quickly so that people can know what really transpired on the day of the explosion, assuring the people of Anioma and the entire people of Delta state that the community was peaceful and would not do anything to harm anyone as the community will get to the bottom of the matter. He implored politicians to heed the advice of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan not to overheat the system by trading blames and accusations over the incident as according to him, it was not in the character of the people of Obomkpa to harm visitors to the community. Dibiat described the whole incident as unfortunate and commiserated with those who were injured particularly Perpetual Damascus who is presently receiving treatment at the Delta State Teaching Hospital, Oghara. He also assured investors and politicians that Obomkpa community was safe, explaining that the incident should not deter well meaning persons from fraternizing with the people wherever they are in the world.
