Residents of Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State are receiving free medical treatment from doctors who arrived from the United States of America on the invitation of the council Chairman, Osaro Obazee.
Leader of the medical team, Dr Lateef Olaniyan, and President of Moses Lake Medical Team at a press conference to flag –off the exercise at the council, said, aside giving out free drugs and eye glasses worth about $200,000, the team would also perform minor surgeries for deserving patients.
He pointed out that at the end of the exercise, which will go on for two weeks, over 10, 000 patients would benefit from the free medical treatment and commended the Oredo council boss for creating a friendly environment for their work.
The Oredo council chairman, while thanking the visiting doctors, urged the people to take advantage of the visit, adding that it was part of his government initiative in providing health services for the indigent.
“This is just a demonstration of our administration’s commitment in building a healthy workforce in the council because health is wealth. And that is why we decided to provide all the logistic arrangements to ensure that it works.”
