Delta State Deputy Governor, Kingsley Otuaro, has appealed to parties in the inconclusive Ojobo, Burutu Local Government Area chairmanship elections to give peace a chance.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Communication and Press, Bulou Kosin, Otuaro said he had no vested interest in who becomes chairman of Ojobo community and that he was not supporting any particular candidate.

The statement read: “His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Deacon Otuaro, wishes to appeal to all stakeholders in Ojobo community to give peace a chance so as to enable government discharge its mandate of delivering dividends of democracy to the people.

“Otuaro, a peace advocate, is desirous of a situation where all stakeholders of Ojobo community would work towards credible elections any time same is held and avert a repeat of circumstances that led to avoidable bloodbath in the community over a decade ago over community elections”.

In a related development, he appealed to crude oil host communities in the state on the need to create conducive environments for oil companies to operate.

Otuaro who spoke to leaders and presidents-general of oil communities on the heels of recent shut down of some oil wells in Isoko land over allegations that the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) did not carry its host communities along in their oil exploitation and exploration commended the communities for putting to rest the crisis between them and the oil companies.

He advised them to always employ dialogue in resolving issues with companies operating on their land.

The deputy Governor thanked them for their timely intervention in opening up the oil facilities.
