Rivers State Government says it will partner well-meaning organizations to bring sustainable development to the State.
The Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo gave this indication in Port Harcourt when the President General of Bakana Community Development Association (BCDA), Mr. Iloye Dokubo-Braide, led members of the association on a courtesy visit to her office in Government House, Port Harcourt.
The deputy governor said the State Government was prepared to partner with organisations and agencies that show genuine interest in identifying with the development blueprint of the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration.
She charged the people of Bakana to maintain peaceful co-existence as it was the only way to attract developmental projects to the community. She called on the association to liaise with relevant bodies to resolve issues that had divided them in the past.
“We want to see our Bakana live in peace as brothers and Sisters, there is no way development can take place in our community if we are divided”, She said.
The Deputy Governor also advised them to preach peace, and encourage the youths to tow the part of moral rectitude by shunning negative vices that would tarnish the image of the community.
“Please encourage our youths to develop themselves morally, physically and financially. Our own example will speak volume more than any amount of money we give them. They should see us as role models in our community”, she stated.=
She added that the present government in the state was determined to embark on projects that had direct bearing on the lives of the people, stressing that government had already started demonstrating its willingness to give every part of the state a sense of belonging in appointments.
On the lack of a functional Health Centre in the community, the Deputy Governor said government would direct the Ministry of Health to post health workers to the area to boast primary health care.
She thanked Bakana people for the support they gave to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to win the 2015 Governorship elections in the state and urged them to continue to pray for the Wike-led administration.
