The God’s Kingdom Society (GKS) has urged political office holders in Nigeria to reduce their allowances in order to save Nigeria from further economic hardship.

The Ministers of God’s Kingdom Society gave the advice in a communiqué issued at the end of their three days conference at the church headquarters, Salem City, Warri, Delta State.

They said the drastic reduction in the emoluments and benefits of political office holders became inevitable in view of the sharp drop in government’s revenues and complaints by key officers at national and state levels that their predecessors emptied the treasuries and accumulated huge debts before leaving office.

The GKS Conference presided over by the chairman of its Executive Board, Brother Godwin Ifeacho noted that workers in many states of the federation were being owed several months salaries, adding that leaders at all levels should work for the alleviation of the suffering of the teeming masses of the country.

They urged the Federal Government to ensure that it carries out its plan to fight corruption in high and low places and strengthen Local Government administration and implement its welfare programmes, assuring them of God’s blessings.

The GKS commended President Muhammadu Buhari for promising to revamp the judiciary to enable it act with dispatch on cases of corruption and abuse of office, pointing out that speedy dispensation of justice in the fear of God is the cornerstone of peace and progress in the society.

The GKS Ministers also called on the government to ensure that it did everything possible to curb the incessant cases of kidnapping in various parts of the country, asserting that whatever is attained by ungodly means was under curse and the culprits would not go unpunished unless they repented.
