The Delta State Commander, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Emmaunel Nwachukwu Ofili, has urged the people of Delta State to co-operate with the new security outfit towards crime eradication in the state and Nigeria at large.
Ofili made the appeal at the Udu Local Government area in Delta State when he and his entourage paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Udu Kingdom, ‘Ohworhu’ I, Emmanuel Delekpe, the ‘Ovie’ of Udu Kingdom and his high chiefs, towards the inauguration of the Udu chapter of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).
Ofili explained that the security body, VGN, was established as a para-military outfit to aid the police in the fight against crime in Nigeria and to provide useful information to the police for the arrest of criminals in an attempt to reduce crime in the society to the barest minimum.
Ofili further disclosed that the Federal Government was behind the establishment of the VGN, adding that after the formative stage, government will take over.
He pointed out that the bill on the VGN is already on the way. He told the traditional ruler, his chiefs and the entire people of Udu Kingdom that the purpose of his visit was to enlighten them, create awareness on the roles, participation and relevance of vigilante in the sustenance of Nigerian security system.
