Delta State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Williams Akporeha, has urged the state Governor-elect, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, to ensure progressive partnership with labour as one of the pillars of a productive government.
Akporeha, while congratulating the Governor-elect and his Deputy, Kingsly Otuaro, during the re-election ceremony in Effurun as Delta State Chairman NLC, noted that successful economies in the world are driven by collaboration between labour, government and employers.
He, therefore, urged that “even though we need jobs, we need quality jobs to grow businesses through the implementation of a public private sector policy.”
He noted that government can be rest assured that a mutual partnership with the labour congress will go a long way in assisting businesses to start, grow and succeed in Delta State.
While expressing gratitude to the delegates and affiliate unions of the congress who ensured his re-election unopposed, Akporeha also assured them of meeting their challenges of change.
“Today marks a new start, a chance to renew.”
Other executive members who were re-elected unopposed include Emeka Nwoala as first Vice President, Nwokolo Kingsley as second Vice President, and Taiwo Onovwiana as Treasurer among others.
