A member of the House of Representatives representing Esan North East/South East Federal Constituency, Mr. Friday Itulah has donated a primary school to the people of community, as part of his constituency projects in Uromi.

Ukpeko Imiokolo until now never had a school for its indigenes in the history of the community’s existence.

Itulah, who also commissioned two blocks of classrooms in Idumu-Egean Primary School in Esan North East, under the supervision of the Universal Basic Education Commission, said the actualisation of the school projects was a realisation of his electioneering campaign promises to his constituent, noting that he facilitated the construction of additional blocks of classrooms in the community to improve the academic prowess of indigent pupils in the agrarian community.

Unveiling the newly constructed blocks of classroom for the smooth take off of Ukpeko Imiokolo Primary School in the remote community in Uromi to the Edo State Commissioner for Basis Education, Itulah, said the need to embark on the school project in Ukpeko Imiokolo was borne out of the desire to bring education to the doorstep of the people who have no primary school in their community since existence.

According to him, “Ukpeko Imiokolo community has long been in existence, but has never had the opportunity of having a primary school; pupils from this community have to cover a very long distance to attend primary School they presently attend. This is against the United Nation policy on primary education, which is to the effect that primary schools should not be more than 200m from a child.”, Itulah said.

Edo state commissioner of Basic Education, Patrick Aguinede, while speaking during the handing over ceremony of the primary School by the Lawmaker said the gesture will go a long way to compliment the effort of the state government, noting that with the commissioning and the hand-over, the primary school was now a government owned school and promised to provide all necessary facilities for the immediate take-off of the school. Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education (UBE), Alhaji. Dikko Suleman represented by Okey Beatrice of the Edo state office of Universal Basic Education commended the facilitator for his numerous contribution to the development of the education sector, urging thepeople of the community to make judicious use of the school as the school project supervised by UBE is to ensure Education for all.”
