Edo police nab eight for electoral offences

The Edo Police Command has disclosed that it has arrested eight suspects over alleged electoral offences during the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Samuel Adegbuyi, who made the disclosure at a news conference in Benin, said the security agents arrested the eight suspects at various spots across the state.

Adegbuyi said the command would hand over the suspects to the State Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for prosecution in line with the Electoral Act, after the concluson of investigations into the cases.

The CP also confirmed that one death was recorded in Benin City during the March 28 elections.

He added that the command arrested 28 other suspects for alleged various crimes across the state.

Adegbuyi said one of the arrested suspects was allegedly involved in a recent robbery attack at a new generation bank in Owo, Ondo State.
