The Bayelsa Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service said it generated over N58.5 million as revenue from its operations in 2014.
Comptroller of the command, Mr Sule Wunti, told newsmen in Yenagoa that the money accrued from issuance of travel documents.
According to Wunti, the command issued 87 re-entry visas and travel cards to non-Nigerians during the period under review.
He said the service had issued 209 ECOWAS travel certificates and 98 ECOWAS resident cards between January and December 2014.
Wunti also said that the command issued 5,522 e-passports during the year.
“Also, a total of 185 vessels arrived and departed the command’s exit points at Agbami, Bonga, Tulja terminals and Brass control post, thereby clearing 4,448 crew members that came into the country,” Wunti said.
He said that the command had undertaken two major operations to flush out irregular migrants from the state in February and May 2014, and subsequently deported 91 irregular migrants.
The comptroller said the command had also foiled a child trafficking attempt and rescued a sevn-year-old girl trafficked from Oron in Akwa Ibom State and intercepted in Bayelsa.
“The child trafficking victim has since been re-united with her family,” he said.
