Commissioner in-charge of Ughelli North and Ethiope East local government areas in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Obiuvwevbi C. E. Ominimini, has commissioned two electricity transformers donated by the commission, just as he distributed school benches, office chairs,_ writing tables and notebooks to six secondary and primary schools in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.

Ominimini facilitated the installation of the transformers, commissioning and distribution of school notebooks, benches, chairs and tables on behalf of DESOPADEC in the company of chairman of Oil and Gas Host Communities (HOSTCOM) in the area, Comrade Festus Ighoyovwi, and Comrade Odeyovwi M. Inana, who directed the distribution of the items to the schools.

Speaking to newsmen during an interview, Ominimini said he has also done the same thing in Ughelli North Local Government Area and will do more.

According to him, “DESOPADEC was set up for the purpose of oil and gas producing communities and I see no reason why their benefits should not be given to them”.

He noted that the two local government areas under his control (Ughelli North and Ethiope East) were the most peaceful oil producing council areas because he made sure that what was due to them was given to them and vowed not to withhold anything from them, adding that he spends his own to make the people happy.

Ominimini urged the people to appreciate Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for giving them the projects through him, saying, “I am only an instrument used by the governor to get to the grassroots, as a messenger, all praises should first go to God Almighty and then to Governor Uduaghan”.

He further urged them to be peace loving, saying better and greater things were ahead of them if they continued to maintain peace, which he said is the best way to attract development and government presence. He told them that his door was always open to them.
