The Centre for the Promotion of Arbitration has advised candidates in the February elections not to engage in the politics of bitterness and disharmony.

In a statement issued and signed by its National Coordinator, Jitobo Akenike, and Cooperate Director, Mr. Samuel Orovwuje, in Warri recently, the group also advised contestants in the elections to focus their campaigns on base issues that will better the lots of Delta people.

The centre, in the statement, however, stated: “In the spirit of equity, transparency and good governance, we appeal to Deltans to vote en mass for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate. Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and his deputy, Barr Kingsley Otuaro.”

The statement noted that the emergence of the duo of Okowa and Otuaro as governorship and deputy governorship candidates of PDP should be seen as the collective wish of the people as shown in the party’s governorship primaries.

The group also noted that though there are other political parties in the state but said PDP is the most popular and people-oriented party.

“This is why Deltans should vote for PDP in the February 2015 elections,” the statement read.
