Ahead of the February 2015 general election, South South Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Cairo Ojugbo, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to members of the party, who defected because of the outcome party primaries across the states.
According him, “No matter the grievances one may feel, it is not enough to decamp to opposition parties in order to desperately actualise political ambition, such move is against the party’s ideology’’.
Ojugbo gave the warning during the party’s governorship campaign flag-off and presentation of party’s flags to candidates of the party at the Oghara Township Stadium in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
He averred that failure by those who defected to return within the stipulated time, their names shall be permanently erased from the party’s register.
Earlier, the party governorship candidate in the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, vowed that his administration would vigorously pursue the industrialisation of the state to the envy of all when elected.
Okowa urged all Deltans to vote for the PDP at all levels and assured that his government would face the area of technical education with all seriousness to create youths that are self-reliant.
He stated that the party would win with a landslide in the forthcoming elections, saying that there is no party that can march the PDP in the state.
“We will ensure accelerated industrialisation of the state. This is why we will ensure that the Warri industrial business park started by Governor Uduaghan is completed. My administration will partner with private business investors to ensure that we create two industrial bases that will employ our unemployed youths”, Okowa promised.
