Following the recent attack on Ewen village in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State by Fulani herdsmen, which left one of the youths of the community dead and many villagers injured, Niger Delta youths under the aegis of the Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) have warned that they will no longer condone such act again in the region.

Comrade Jator Abido, coordinator of the group, who handed down the warning shortly after a retreat of the council in Tanapa, Cross Rivers State, noted that there have been a series of such attacks by Fulani herdsmen on communities in the region with devastating effects.

While calling on voters in the region to exercise their civic dutiy in the forthcoming general elections, Abido advised politicians to consider the unity of the country first and desist from making statements that are capable of causing disunity in the country.

He also disclosed that the group resolved that Ndidi Elumelu and Alhaji Abdumalic Mamood be made grand patron and patron of the council respectively owing to their contributions to the development of the group.

The high point of the retreat was the launching of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor Community Empowerment Programme Initiative Scheme, which according to the Agbarha Warri born Niger Delta youth leader, was aimed at partnering with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other well meaning individuals and organizations to empower youths in the region. Other executives of the group sighted at the press briefing included Barr Andrew Efole, Comrade Samuel Obada (Delta State representative), among others.
